Independent living communities typically provide amenities such as restaurant-style dining, activities, transportation, fitness centers, and salons. Independent living communities allow seniors to enjoy life without the maintenance of owning a home.
ASSISTED LIVING

• Seniors who need assistance with ADL (activities of daily living)
• Seniors requiring assistance due to physical/mild cognition needs
Assisted living offers personalized care and support for seniors who need some assistance. Support can include available 24-hour staff (not one-on-one), meals, medication management, housekeeping/ laundry, and incontinence assistance. These communities have additional charges based on the individual care needs of each resident.
PERSONAL CARE HOME

• People who need a small environment
Personal care homes are residential homes that typically have six to twelve residents. There is a higher staff-to-resident ratio that can often accommodate residents with higher needs. These homes are often secured and include assistance with activities of daily living, medication management, meals, laundry, housekeeping, and limited activities.
SKILLED NURSING

• Seniors who have a dementia diagnosis
Memory care is a specialized service offered in stand-alone memory care communities or within communities that include independent and assisted living. Memory care provides the same services as assisted living but within a secured environment. Additionally, memory care communities include activities targeted at memory loss. Additional staff members are on hand to help with the increased needs of the residents.
MEMORY CARE

• Seniors requiring physical around-the-clock care
Skilled Nursing is 24-hour nursing care for two types of people. The first is someone who needs a short term rehab stay after a hospitalization. The second is someone whose physical needs require round-the-clock nursing care and must live there to get the care they need.
